Interview With TheKidWithTheGift

On January 8th, Philadelphia based artist TheKidWithTheGift (TKWTG) released her EP titled Lena L. It is a 9 track EP and each song is great. On the 26 minute long EP, TheKidWithTheGift opens up about bad relationships, depression, police brutality, and more. Some personal favorites are “Rumors”, “Move Different”, and “Nothing”.

Prior to dropping her music project, a visual for "No Love" was gifted to the public. "No Love" instantly became a fan favorite. Throughout the intense DevKamera directed visual, we see a couple in a car arguing as TheKidWithGift sits in the backseat rapping. "Times got hard but you should've stayed down/even through the hard times you should've stayed around," TKWTG sings-raps.

After Lena L. dropped, other tracks like "Karma" and "Momma" also became fan favorites. TKWTG explained why so many people are into the "Momma" track. She said because "anybody that's a fan of me, they like a big fan of me speaking on my mom."

Recently, I had the pleasure of interviewing TheKidWithTheGift. We discussed the topics and themes of Lena L. We also talked about the creation process behind the EP, depression, her growth as an artist, what she has in store for us in 2018, and more.
