Offset Faces Backlash For Homophobic Lyrics: "I Cannot Vibe With Queers"

Migos member Offset is currently facing backlash for his verse on YFN Lucci’s single “Boss Life”. The single was originally released December 2017. Now that an official video has dropped the song has picked up more attention and fans are noticing Offset’s homophobic line.

On Offset’s guest verse he rapped, “Pinky ring crystal clear, 40k spent on a private Lear/60k solitaire/ I cannot vibe with queers”. Certainly, it is a problematic line. Members of the LGBTQ community are enraged with Offset. Twitter users began to call out Offset by saying that most of the clothes he wears were designed by Queers.

After being criticized and questioned for his lyrics Offset issued an apology via Instagram. “I didn’t write the line about gay people. I have said before since these issues before that I got love for all people” Offset continued. “My passion for fashion has lead me to a lot of gay people around me who I have mad respect for and we are very cool so I’m not in a place where I’m hating like that” he said. Offset then went on to say he included the line for rhyming purposes and he was not using the term queer to talk about someone’s sexuality. He insisted that he used the terms to refer to someone who is “strange or odd”.

Many are not pleased with this apology and are not accepting that Offset was implying something else. While some are saying that an apology was not necessary.
