Spike Lee’s “She’s Gotta Have It” Reboot Renewed for A Second Season
Spike Lee made an announcement via his Instagram account January 1st. Lee posted a video stating that there will be a second season of She’s Gotta Have It. In the video Lee sat alongside his wife, Tonya Lewis Lee, who said “Spike and I wanted to wish you a happy new year”. Spike Lee chimed in and added “and there’s gonna be a second season of She’s Gotta Have It,” what a way to bring in the new year.
An announcement was also made by DeWanda Wise, who plays the leading role as Nola Darling. Wise uploaded a video to her Instagram account as well. The caption read “Back ta werq! Season is OFFICIAL!!! Can’t wait to return to BK. Congrats to aaallll us,” with happy new year and she’s gotta have it hashtagged at the end.
She’s Gotta Have It is a reboott of the 1986 film Lee directed and starred in. Netflix picked up the series in 2017. In the first season Nola Darling juggle three different romantic relationships, struggles to find her break as an artist, and battle street harassment and more.The first season premiered November 23, 2017.
The first season was full of ten half hour long episodes. The second season is expected to only have 8 episodes. A release date has not yet been confirmed. Who will be tuning in when season two drops?
